Being bored with academic writing, I embarked upon this project as a creative outlet. Might I add that since this is a creative outlet, my goal is not to tell you which perfume to buy, but merely to give you my impression of certain scents. Furthermore, I don’t guarantee that every perfume I mention actually exists. Some are merely works of fiction. And I shamelessly steal the photos without crediting them.
My style is deeply indebted to the New York Times perfume critic Chandler Burr and his style is deeply indebted to the mad scent scientist and perfume lover Luca Turin. Many thanks to my mom and anyone who’s ever suffered a trip with me to the perfume department.
seems pretty crazy but maybe a source of inspiration?

What a cool article! I’m curious how they store and release the various scents. And who gets to design these fragrances anyway? I’m not sure I really trust the perfume mixing skills of someone who spends their days inventing ‘Labs-on-a-chip’. I’ve met those types before and their taste in perfume leaves a little something to be desired.
